Pete Takes T-Mac To Task On Jobs In New Ad

In a new ad released Thursday, Virginia entrepreneur and conservative Lieutenant Governor candidate Pete Snyder is taking career Washington insider and Democrat Gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe to task for sending manufacturing jobs to Mississippi rather than bringing them to Virginia.

The video, titled “Missed Opportunity,” is backed by a substantial web advertising campaign. It highlights the bleak economic circumstances faced by many Virginians, and slams McAuliffe — a self-styled “Virginia businessman” — for his decision “to locate the manufacturing plant of the electric car company he bought in 2009 in Mississippi instead of Virginia,” and for his false claim that Virginia just wasn’t interested in those jobs.

The Virginian-Pilot reports:

McAuliffe has faced repeated questions on that subject for months, especially after reporting revealed state records contradicting his claim that Virginia economic development officials weren’t fully interested in having the car plant here. Snyder’s ad continues that theme, with high unemployment Danville in Southside Virginia as its setting. “It’s political garbage and double talk like this that made me want to get off the sidelines and get into the arena to change things,” Snyder, a technology investor, says in the spot. “And unlike Terry, I’m a real deal, genuine up by my own boot straps entrepreneur,” Snyder adds. “I know first hand how vital high-paying jobs of the kind Terry sent to Mississippi could be to our communities.”

“When liberal Washington insider Terry McAuliffe claims he’s ‘putting jobs first,’ he must mean in Mississippi, because he’s sure as heck not talking about Virginia. Not only did McAuliffe decide he’d rather create jobs in Mississippi than in Virginia, he then got caught making false statements and blaming Virginia instead of taking responsibility for his ‘let’s make a deal’ huckster ways. That’s certainly not the kind of leadership Virginia needs during these challenging economic times,” said Snyder spokesman Chris Bond. “In contrast, Pete Snyder is a genuine Virginia entrepreneur who has successfully built two businesses and created hundreds of jobs here, and who knows how to get our economy growing in all parts of the Commonwealth. Jobs and the economy are the top issues for voters across the country and in Virginia, and Pete’s the only proven job-creator running on either side of the aisle statewide. Pete can’t wait to use his real world business experience to help our next Governor Ken Cuccinelli bring new jobs and opportunity to all of Virginia.”

Snyder — a technology entrepreneur and committed pro-life, pro-family, and pro-Second Amendment conservative who has spent nearly 20 years in the conservative movement — continues to make headlines for his energetic, innovative high-touch grassroots campaign.
